Four-alarm blaze at Knollsbrook Condominiums started at the hands of kids.
Young kids playing with matches, dry conditions and high winds combined to create a voracious blaze that quickly spread into the nearby Knollsbrook complex engulfing a carport in flames. Ruptured gas tanks and propane bottles set off multiple explosions. One unit was completely destroyed; others suffered extensive smoke and water damage requiring the evacuation of the building’s residents.

Total cost of damage: $1 million

Able’s rapid response secures scene.
As the preferred restoration company for the agent, Able’s fleet was mobilized and on site in less than 30 minutes. The tenants were safe, but the property suffered severe damage.

The last fire unit left the scene at 11:30 pm. Within minutes our team was securing the premises–boarding up broken windows, picking up debris and installing a temporary fence to ensure the area was contained.

Bringing order to chaos.
Once the property was secured, our Project Manager assessed the situation and immediately prioritized the plan of action.

• The property needed to be cleared of debris and the collapsed and damaged carports removed. So we brought in a bulldozer to handle this aspect of the property clean up.

• The fire-damaged building had no power, so our crew dug a trench that ran from the other side of the complex up to the front of the building. They then built temporary power boxes to restore power, so tenants in undamaged units could remain in their homes while Able technicians cleaned and deodorized their units.

• Units in the immediate area of the fire suffered smoke and water damage. Able technicians cleaned floors and ceilings removing smoke and soot residue. Specialized desiccant trailers were mobilized and used for high-speed drying.

Rebuilding units and lives.
The building that succumbed to heat damage is getting a new roof. Damaged units are being restored and in some cases, rebuilt. And new carports are going up.
